You were fine. Your reply referenced the post immediately before. Perhaps some of us didn't immediately catch the Hoth reference, which makes it obvious!

If you do want to reference an earlier post, go to the post and click the "quote" button. That will generate a new reply at the end of the thread that includes the referenced post in a quote box.

And, I still don't understand the reference.
Another reason for quoting ( you don't have to quote the entire post ) is that, while you are typing, others may post between the original post and your comment.

47 pages of pictures here, and no clue which one you are referring to, or which of the 100 or so posters 'Your" refers to...

with this forum, its best to use the 'quote' button to reply to a specific message, as that includes a reference to the message just like I did here...

1986 Captain

Likely putting new tires on then hauling home this week. Then the work starts. Guess I’ll give it a good bath to start! Any tips or tricks greatly appreciated!
Not sure how to put them right side up
Cheers

Nice find!

Barkeeper’s Friend is a fiberglass-friendly scouring powder that works well to remove stubborn spots. Just didn’t overdo it because it is a mild abrasive. I blend it with water to a thin paste before applying.

After it’s clean, Meguiar’s Marine Fiberglass Restoration Kit is a good way to bring back a decent shine. It won’t be high gloss like new gelcoat, more like a satin finish, but it will protect the fiberglass from further deterioration and make bugs easier to wipe off.

There are other products, but those have worked for me.

Best wishes with your project!
