Hi Ron .... I was just wondering why you did not go with the Dome Satellite TV Antenna ? You got pretty much all of the other upgrades. Also do you know if both can be(hooked up) used with the TV supplied with your Oliver ?. The reason I ask is, I know the Dome antenna needs an un obstructive line(view) to receive a good signal via satellite . Where your amplified TV antenna does not rely on a good satellite line of view. ..... John

I did not like the look of the king-dome. Also, I wanted to have some reserve space on the roof for more solar in the future. I also already had a dish tailgater that works very well, and you have a lot of options on placement with it. Down the road, that equipment is fairly easy to upgrade or switch to direct-tv even.

If you get the king-dome, I don't think you have an option for broadcast tv at all, other than a set of rabbit ears. I watch a fair bit of network tv and pbs, so I really wanted that option. Plus the tv and antenna are 12v, so that makes for easy viewing at roadside stops.

Nice, very nice friend and thanks for the pics. I am sure you are going to have a ball with it, as we are for our 16 ft. Scamp.

Well here is a happy surprise - got back today and found I had left the heat on all week. I left it on "electric heat" which is the heat strip in the air conditioner. Left it on 64 degrees.

If you remember, the way this works is, if it drops more than 5 degrees off the themostat setting, then the gas furnace kicks on to get the temperature back up and then resumes in electric mode.

Well apparently it held temp all week, as there was no gas consumed. Even with 2 snow storms moving thru the area and temps in the 20's at night.

I am very relieved!

Did you have the valves on your propane tanks opened?

Yep, but just one tank. Tested by turning up the temp and the gas furnace popped on.

Well, our Scamp just sips propane for such heating of the air and water. We were shocked as to how little gas we used when camping. Love our Scamp! New interior now to show off!

Hi Ron, Great write up on the Oliver. I'm new to the RV world and am very excited to have sent in my deposit on a new Legacy Elite II with a delivery date of July 15th. We have choosen very similar options. Have you had the oportunity to test out the cell phone extender? I went for the WiFi extender but opted out of the cell phone, wasn't sure it it was worth it. I plan on pulling this baby with a GMC Yukon, cherry apple red...gonna look great going down the road!

I can't really see yet that the cell booster works very well. I've been told you need to be really close to the interior antenna for it to work. Where I've been able to test, I get great reception anyways, and the same inside the trailer. Maybe when I'm out in the boondocks it will be more useful.

I did get one question about the metal foil insulation interfering with radio signals. So far I don't see any issues. I think with all the windows, there is plenty of opportunity for signals to get inside the trailer.

The wifi booster seems to work well. My original unit had a broken power connector, but they sent me a replacement straight away and it was an easy change-out I could do myself. The new one seems to work well - pulled in 22 wifi networks in my neighborhood - more than I'd ever seen from my laptop.

We have the same cell phone booster in our tow vehicle and found it very helpful when we went out west last summer. There were some places in Yellowstone where we had a weak signal and it definitely was boosted by the amplifier, but you do have to have your phone near the internal antenna. There also has to be a signal present to boost ;-) We just left the phone on the center arm console in the truck so it was near the booster and were able to use the hotspot on our phones while inside our trailer.
