They are lying! We all live in igloos, and drive the sled dogs to the store. Mush!

What a bunch of disbelievers. You really do think that we live in the Great White North.

OK, just to confirm that we're not covered in snow and that the weather is pretty nice compared to most places in NA, here's a time dated shot from Tuesday taken at a scenic place called Porteau Cove, near Vancouver.

OK, OK, maybe things aren't quite as good as portrayed in other posts, my rhubarb is only a foot high

I'm thinking money must have changed hands between my teachers and our neighbors to the north to keep "mum" on the paradise across the border! We were indoctrinated with some nonsense about Hawaii, Florida, and Arizona being the promised land!!!!

Vancouver sits next to the Pacific Ocean. Can someone say, "temperature buffer"?

But how many miles inland does this effect extend? The vast bulk of Canada is indeed the snowy land we (below the imaginary line) envision. Am I right?

Carl, I drove by today... figured you were still in bed, no lights on. That backyard Snooze looked mighty nice!

True. The ocean makes a big difference. But, take a look at a map of Canada ( Google ). Toronto, Ontario is south of Minneapolis, Minn.

That sounds better than still riding horse back fighting Indians.

The temperature buffer is about 400 miles east of Vancouver. Cities in the interior of BC do get more snow than Vancouver and lower temps in winter but nothing like the snowy land images that people south of us seem to relate the whole county to. Most of the interior cities have been free of snow for awhile now and seeing temps up to the high 60's this week. Its not until you head east and get close to or east of the rockies or much further north do you start to see a lot more of the white stuff that I suspect visitors from the south are expecting to see.

Hi Mike. I was wondering what happened.
I was up at 7 am. Had one light on. My den lights can't be seen from
the road I guess. I don't burn a lot of electricity.
I left around 9:30 am to check out the damage in Spavinaw.
Sorry I missed you.

I feel your pain, I live in the snowbelt up here just North of Duluth and we are getting dumped on again. 3rd major snowstorm in the last 5 days! Hopefully we'll be able to get plowed out tomorrow but this snow is so wet it sticks to everything. Luckily the Casita is in the garage or it would have been buried until the middle of May or so. If it wasn't so expensive I would consider retiring to the great Northwest- Vancouver is looking mighty nice right now!!

Yikes! My sister plans on coming up to Bemidji to camp next month! Hope it'll be spring by then! We spent our childhood summers there. Of course, if there's still snow on the ground, there won't be MOSQUITOES AND DEERFLIES!!!!!

Our neighbor just blew 6-8 inches off our driveway. Should melt soon though.

OH ! Oh! We have mowed and edged and racked .Now it is raining and cold again(48F low tonight) So now if you really realllly liked me you could just make me up some some Rhubarb pie and send it overnight express down here to Texas.! Pack it good in one of those insulated boxes so it will stay hot too,oh and those white packing peanut things so it want get all mushed up or broke or anything.

P.S. I will add my own homemade ice cream...so don't worry about sending that to go with the pie.

Ok I'm going to my room now to hide and watch for it to get here............

I was in Alaska in the Cook inlet. It was early December. The weather was above freezing. Much warmer then Calgary at the time. That Pacific ocean is quite warm.
