Which roads over the Sierras are open now, or will be open in late April?

Hard to predict the future.. We have been hit with wierd snowstorms here for the past month. If I am getting 3-4 feet, I bet the sierras are just dumped on!

I flew over them a couple weeks ago.. so white that distinguishing features were hard to see. 1/2 dome looked like a little skulll cap.

I would imagine the Parks Service would have info on that. No doubt the 80 is open, south of that.. Caltrans may know, or county roads sites.

Hi,

As Gina says, Highway 80 would be open---only shuts for a short time and then sometimes chains are required. As of a couple of weeks ago, all of the other passes were closed between 80 and 58 which goes through Tehachapi.

Here is where you can check by highway number.

Good Luck
