What are the chances?

I was camping in my '77 Trillium in Michigan's Pigeon River Forest. I was the only one at the campground and it is not in a very populated area. I drove to another area down the road to take a hike. On my way back I saw a white van pulling what I was convinced was my trailer. I quickly turned around in pursuit, heart thumping wildly. Not sure what I was going to do but there was no way I was going to let them get away with taking my baby.

When I eventually caught up with them, I looked at the back and saw there was a hubcap on the spare tire and the wires to my solar panel were no longer there. Turns out it wasn't my Trillium at all but one of the exact same style and color (tan with the orange stripe). I would like to say I was relieved but that didn't happen until I got back to the campground and saw my Trillium still there.

What are the chances that an identical Trillium would be coming down that road (not much there at all) as if coming from the campground I was staying at?

It's funny now but I am still a bit shaken as that would have ruined our summer.

Anyway, if that was you, Cheers and happy camping!

Egg sightings along the Blue Ridge Parkway this past week

This past week we traveled the Blue Ridge Parkway starting in Cherokee NC and with the intension of going all the way to the end. We didn't make it all the way to the end but we did get as far north as Mt. Airy NC. Along the way we seen an Oliver across from our site in Smokemont in Cherokee, and another Oliver at Mt. Pisgah along with a Boler and a Northern Lite truck camper in our loop and the adjacent one. At Crabtree Falls campground we were across from a Scamp 16. Didn't see anymore in Linville Falls Campground & RV park or at Raccoon Holler but we did pass an Oliver in Boone NC. If you are interested in our travels and are on Facebook you can look us up "the Red & White Boler" to see more of our travels. We hope to return to the Blue Ridge Parkway in the near future to finish the other half of the 469 miles of the Parkway.

We live in Linville--hate that we missed seeing "the Red and White Boler"!

We went up to Mt. Airy a few weeks ago to the fiddlers convention, and there were probably a dozen fiberglass "eggs" camped there. All different brands, but didn't see any Bolers.

Where in Mt. Airy were they camped at? We drove to Mt Airy for the day to tour the Andy Griffith museum and "Wally's filling station" and "the courthouse and jail." Unfortunately Snappy's was closed, we were hoping to eat there.

Dave you should come to one of our rallies we host, "Eggs on the Hiawassee" in Hiawassee GA May/June and "Falling for Fiberglass" in Waynesville NC October

For the fiddlers convention, everyone camps at Veterans Memorial Park--it's not usually a campground, but it's where the convention is and everyone camps there.

I'll try to check out the Waynesville rally. They used to have a fiddlers convention there too!

I'll never see this many in one place ever again (well maybe next year at the Scamp Homecoming). This is only a partial shot of the campground, I just like the long late in the day shadows.

Scamp 19 -- Olean / Allegany NY

Saw a black pickup towing my Scamp 19 out of the Home Depot parking lot this afternoon. Well, it looked just like my Scamp 19. Don't know where you're going or which way, but have a safe trip!

This week we saw an Oliver in Loop A of the Hoh Rainforest campground. There was never anyone around when we rode our bikes by… Beautiful rig!

My local trailer shop has a Cortes camper set up in front. Did a double-take to make sure I wasn't seeing things!

If it is still there next week, I will. I couldn't at the time I saw it. I'll get some pics.

Eggs in Maine (1): Thomas Point Beach Bluegrass Festival

Labor Day Weekend, at the Thomas Point Beach Bluegrass Festival: two Casitas and four Scamps. We had the only Escape I saw. The Scamp with the man and dog was near us, a brand-new 13', is owned by a nice couple from MA with two dogs (didn't get their names). Didn't see the owners of the other eggs. Might have missed some; there were hundreds of campers, from tiny teardrops to huge Class As.

Eggs in Maine (2): Schoodic Woods, Acadia National Park

From Brunswick, Maine (Thomas Point Beach) we drove for a few days stay at Schoodic Woods Campground, part of Acadia National Park. Besides our Escape, there were two others, one an Escape 19, from North Carolina, and the other an Escape 5.0, from Connecticut. It was surprising to have three Escapes in this relatively small campground.

There was one Casita; didn't meet the owner.

Eggs in Maine (3): Shore Hills Campground (Boothbay Harbor)

Besides our Escape, only one fiberglass trailer, a Casita owned by Steve and Gail from North Carolina. It was a 2006 Liberty, much modified by Steve.

Guess I should add our Escape 21C, here back at the bluegrass festival.

Out for a motorcycle ride today. Stopped at the Lemon creek rest area on the Slocan valley for lunch. This Surf Side stopped in. Great original condition. From the Slocan Valley but retired to Alberta. Back to see the grandson.
Bought last year very happy with it.
