I know this sounds crazy but has anyone tinkered with the idea of putting a slide out on their egg?????

I thought one over the hitch making a bed would be nice, sort of like on a 5'r. Seen a picture of one some where afterwards and realized my idea was not original.

It's been done; in this case to the rear of a 16' Scamp.

Even though it's a neat idea, my wife would NEVER sleep in it. She didn't feel safe in the pull out bed of our crank up. Which is one reason for the change to a Boler. I mentioned the possibility a while back and got a deffinite NO. The Burro hit by a tree may be a good candidate for a project like this. Would you want the pop/pull-out to be canvas top or FG?

Our second vehicle is a Volkswagen EuroVan. It has the pop top bed (referred to as the penthouse ) and the lower bench seat that also makes into a bed (the servant's quarters )

I often wondered why some of the small pop-top eggs could not utilize such a setup for additional sleeping space. Is it a structural strength concern? Or perhaps a leaking concern. The EuroVan does not leak, open or closed. It is usable in the closed position, at least by me (I'm the short one in the family). But we almost always pop the top open whenever we stop, even if only for lunch on the road.

Ugh, that red Scamp is, uhh, less than asthetically pleasing?

Don't forget about the Northern Lite. Extra bed is over the tongue.

At one time I had a wild-and-crazy thought about building two box-like slide"backs," one on each side and sliding over the rear bumper area. Our always set up rear bed is plenty big, but if we turn it around 90 degrees and sleep lengthwise I wouldn't have to climb over my wife to reach the bathroom.

Something just big enough to let my legs stretch out and a concession to impending old age, I suppose.

Yup, that's the one I seen. Beat me to it. Never noticed it was from the rear though.
