I was wondering if anyone here has had travel health Insurance for trips to the United States. My wife and I would like to go this winter for a few months but are running into road blocks due to costs for health Insurance. One quote was for over $2000 for 3 months. I find that rather expensive for a short trip.

Hi Chester...Absolutely , always, every US trip!!!
Luckily my Ontario Retired Teachers' Health plan (for which I pay monthly) has a 62 day trip coverage with Medicare International at no charge , then a "top-up" rate for any days after that. When we go to Florida for 3 months I buy a month's extra for about $200.
Don't know if it's the lowest rate (we are 66 & 67 with good health) but it sure is a convenient way to add-on.
The Toronto Star has a feature each fall for snowbirds in which it compares all the companies and their rates. You could probably access the article through their website and its archives. I think it was about last September.
CARP might have some good info too.
Happy snowbirding
Alistair

Chester;

We've always gotten extra insurance, through the AMA. For the three weeks we're there for Bandon, it's $77 per person.
