We have a site reserved at Long Key state park, and it was only by luck that we got in because the state parks book up early. Long Key was not available for reservations because of construction projects. We called there and got the date when it would open up for reservations at 8:00 AM. By 8:15 the sites were all reserved but we got one for 4 days. We are doing a month long recon mission in February to check out Florida, all state parks except for one county park, Fort Desoto. I can give you the list if you would like. We're going down the east coast and up the west coast, mostly 2 night stays, and all reserved already. Note that there are some campgrounds on military bases for active or retired military personnel, and I was told there was a nice one around Key West. Bob

Cindy, we are sending our daughters family to Disney at Christmas, not sure if we are going too, probably just stay on Jekyll until we tour Florida starting the last week of January and all of February. Emily, this is great about your 2010 Scamp! We purchased ours within days of each other, are also retired and travel with a lovable mutt. We have been to one rally, the fall rally at Cherokee, and it was great! Hopefully we can meet you there next year if we don't cross paths sooner. I also would like to try Florida this winter, but I am a little intimidated by reports that one has to have reservations months in advance.

Get the Trailer Life campground directory or Woodall's campground guide books, start reading and see if there are sites available. The state parks can be reserved online at reserveamerica. Sometimes you can find a youtube video of campgrounds. We found a couple videos that were really good, someone going through a campground filming every site, and a lot that were useless like someone setting up camp. AAA has the Woodall's books, get 3 free if you are a member, $3.95 otherwise. This will be our first time camping in Florida.

We are staying at Huntington beach nov 25 - 28 in south Carolina, tybee island in Georgia nov 29 - 30, Jekyll island dec 1 - 26, jan 27 fort clinch Florida, jan. 28 and 29 Anastasia, Florida, jan30 and 31 at gamble, Florida, feb 1 Sebastian, Florida, my sister in fort pierce Florida, feb 2 and 3, feb 4 and 5 johnathan Dickinson, long key on the keys in Florida feb 6 - 9, collier on feb 10, fort despots feb 11 - 13, rainbow spring feb 14 - 16, ochlocknee feb 17, st. George feb 18 and 19, topsail feb 20 and 21, Henderson feb 22 and 23, feb 24 and 25 we didn't book yet, hunting island feb 26 - 28 and then head back north after that.
