Since others have added their own scoop on the poop...

On elderly...
IMO, the switch to the _throne_ seating in the lavatory has wrecked havok on our ability to remain in-control into our later years. Case in point...my 93 year old dad can still ball room dance and is in amazing shape...but he dare not leave the house without wearing adult diapers! And since he lives on the other side of the US and there are more fun topics to bring up on our weekly phone call...

But i'm a firm believer the squat position assists the body naturally to keep all the plumbing and the muscle groups working as designed. So for me and my house...

Thom

Good morning Thom.

You're correct, position keeps everything working properly as we age.

We see lots of hi-rise thrones in elderly housing. The problem, is as we age, we lose muscle mass and a lot of that is thigh muscle. The elderly can't pull themselves up when seated at a low level. Rising legs/feet solves one problem, but doesn't solve the other....

I tried this in Times Square once when I lived in the Village. Spent the night in jail.

Next will be the Trot and Squat

Maybe that's why my husband doesn't think it is real.

It is possible to squat while engaging in a number of activities besides that detailed here as most GIs with service in the Pacific and eastern Asia can attest (eating lunch, doing laundry). I believe assuming and maintaining the position is easier for people who are short-limbed and light-weight. When I was in VietNam, I found it very east to cantilever my butt behind my heels. Not so 44 yrs. and nearly 50lbs later. Can you imagine William Howard Taft squatting? Right after eating well comes the need for stools, benches, tables and chairs.

I am going to go slightly off subject here but have you seen the devices that will let ladies "pee like a guy"? Here is the article and demo of one on gizmo watch: Standing tall: Gadgets that allow women to pee like men I would never have guessed there would be so many choices when I heard about them.

Squatting is like "use it or lose it". For awhile it was becoming difficult for me to squat down and get back up and I decided, stubbornly, I was going to make every effort to squat whenever possible, especially in the grocery store. It was always a good idea to have a cart handy. But, I can get up and down now with relative ease considering I am facing 59 this summer. It also really builds up the muscles, well, in the areas that we are discussing.

I showed my husband the "poop and scoop" and he basically had no reaction. I think he was in shock! He was the same way with "pee like a guy" stuff.

Jack, I am 45 years older and 75-80 lbs heavier and I can still maintain a squat for hours.

One brother, two sons and a husband and I didn't consider it an issue until I saw the video! I feel doing that will "complete" me.
