Solar lights inside

I know there's a bazillion threads on lighting. Here's a little tip that may save some batteries.

You know those stick-in-the-ground solar lights you put in your yard?
Get a few and take them on your next trip. Put them out in the day and take them in at night. Put them in a old water bottle weighted with sand or pretty marbles or whatever you have around.
Viola', you have light! Enough to see by for all night, if you want.

Just a thought...

Make it a great day!

There's a patent waiting to happen. Design some that are ment to be used indoors but charged outside. Great for campers and RVers alike.

We have a small solar lantern that can be charged by the sun or via hand crank. Can be used outdoors or indoors. An LLBean christmas gift last year.

I have a crank led lantern. They say crank it so many times and it will give you so many minutes of light. RUBBISH! It wasn't expensive, though, so I can't complain too much.

I think ours was $25. I've never seen it not produce light. I'll put it in a closet and see how long it takes to go out and how long cranking keeps it going.

$25 is expensive to me. I got mine from Harbor Freight (the biggest reason to not complain).
You get what you pay for.

My buddy in the Texas desert lived in a shipping container for a while and that's what he did for lights except he hung them from the ceiling.

I don't know how to make a link yet but Ikea sells lamps called Sunnan for $19.99 . They are a desk lamp that comes in lots of different colors and have a solar panel.

If solar REALLY worked like I think it should, this lamp would never go off! the light above the panel would charge the panel and it be forever energy! It's what mankind has forever looked!

i have collected old oil lamps, the ones that leak i converted over to use those dc powered yard light bulbs. i bet i could take a solar light apart and use that to convert an oil light to solar. might be a fun experiment anyway.

Hey Mike, thanks for your post on using water/soda bottles to hold the solar lights. That made me think about using them when I'm somewhere where it's concrete or simply very hard dirt where I can't plunge them into the ground.

Hey, I've got a couple of little clips that are made for my awning legs. I guess they came with the awning. Any way, all I needed to do was drill a small hole in the solar light post and screw the awning clip to it. Thanks for getting my gray matter moving.
