My wife and I love to watch an hour or so of TV at night from the DVD player, when camping. We do this most nights after the fire and everything else. We have a 40 watt solar panel mounted on the roof of the trailer that charges the single battery through a standard solar charge controller. We have never run out of power, although we did get the battery down to 75% one rainy night that was several hours of TV. Our fridge is gas, our furnace uses no electricity, and we have all LED lights. I made rechargeable 12V LED lanterns for exterior use, which I plug into the trailer during the day to recharge. We also read at night in the trailer, but other than that we don't use any electricity. The great thing about solar is that the battery starts to recharge in the morning before I even wake up, without any effort on my part. By having the panel on the roof we give up maximizing the solar charge in the sun, but it has never been a problem. I have another identical 40 watt solar panel, but have not needed to set it up so far.
