Something's different on Iphone

All of a sudden the forum looks different on my IPhone 6. Don't like it at all. Anyone else notice it. Looks the same on my laptop as usual. Tried deleting it on my phone and still the same when I log back in.

There is a thread called "new mobile browsing option", maybe that will help? I don't have an iphone 6.

You're probably looking at the mobile version of the site. You can tap the address bar to bring up your bookmarks and recent history. Then swipe down to reveal some hidden options at the top, including the option to "request desktop site."

The app hasn't changed. They just added a mobile version of the site for folks who use a browser instead of the app. Personally, I much prefer the FGRV app.

Finally figured it out with your help Robert. Back to desktop view now. Thanks Ted

For a short while, mine bounced to "2.0" and the "default style" selection disappeared. Now it's back. When I clicked on this thread, that's what I thought you might be getting at.

You got swapped into mobile version... yuck, that's even worse!

Ok even though I clicked the "request desktop site. Now when I exit out and I return to FGRV it switches me back to Mobile version. I don't like it at all. Am I going to have to click request every time?

Robert explained the changes very well, for those wondering.

I know it is a natural reaction for folks to resist change, but I would suggest at least giving either the Tapatalk app, or the mobile version, a chance. Just give it a go for a day or two, then try the full version on your phone. I think then you will see the advantages of the two versions meant for a phone, and the reasons they were developed in the first place. It really is MUCH better to navigate around on, and A LOT easier to read.

One thing I have found, where I never adopted change, was when the technology changed on the same thing one more time, I was even further behind.

Change is good. Wouldn't it be tough to try to do this via telegraph using Morse code.

My vote is for the desktop version. I understand change but I personally like the looks of the desktop. IMO

Glad to see you got it working how you like it, Ted.

While I like things to look good, my first choice (for anything) is usually based on function. But, we each are individual, and set our own parameters. Thus, the option with the software to do what pleases you best. Works good for everyone.

papa-t, I would suggest you download the FGRV app and try it out. It won't affect how you view the site with a browser. The app makes it much easier IMO to view, reply and post using a phone. It doesn't look like the mobile version of the site via browser, and I think it's far more useful. If you try it and don't like it, you can always launch the browser instead.

Ted, not sure if this will help but on my tablet I never log out and the thing never tries to switch me. Are you logging out of FGRV each time, by chance?
