Spur of the moment flip floppers

Had been planning on going to Florida and spent a lot of time looking at info and could not find anything that interested us enough to go SO, last night we decided to just go home. We're near Nashville,TN for the night and we'll be back in Michigan on Tuesday. Have also decided to sell our Kodiak and just use our Egg Camper for spring, summer, fall. Not for snowbirding. I think we're finished with that, having been doing that since Nov, 1994.

I'm laughin' at myself right now...I thought this was going to be a how-to for folks that need to build a pair of thongs in an emergency or something!

Sounds like you've Snowbirded long enough to have run out of things you want to see- I think that's pretty cool, actually. No question of having "missed something", right?

Have fun with the three-season camping, and enjoy your (newfound) winter-at-home lifestyle!

Francesca

Francesca... you're showing your age My daughter reminds me frequently that thongs are underwear... not shoe wear although I grew up calling the things on my feet... thongs.

Bob & Grace, you've lived your life snowbirding like some of us can only dream of. I had hopes of following the sun for five years. The fact you have done it far beyond that is wonderful. All good things come to and end, but that only means things are changing... not that they can't be just as good.

Best wishes for 2013!!

Thongs are (is?) underwear now????

Well, I never...

But then, I haven't been able to keep up since t-shirts stopped being underwear.

Hi: rgrugg... Here I thought the whole point about going to Florida was no point at all. I still remember when I was a kid and our next door neighbour telling me to see everything there is to see on the way down to Fla. cause there's nothing to see when you get there!!!
I want to at least try snowbirding, but I'm afraid of falling off the "Fiscal cliff".
Just being able to go for a walk without snow boots, mitts and toque...would be nice.

Underwear is underwear and should not be worn as outwear because it shouldn't be worn that way on certain terrain.

That's much of the reason we are down here from our home in upstate NY. Just spent 4 days at Disney with our daughters family. In Feb. we are traveling both coasts of Florida, we like beaches. Decided to do the snowbird thing while we still can. Retired 2 years now, and love it.

We've done the snowbird thing for 17 winters. Guess we're just snowbirded out. Our house is heavily insulated and we have an automatic whole house generator. If we keep enough food in the house we're all set.

bob and grace---you are right to go home if you cannot find something that excites you or makes you want to head further south. similar to our friend scouter dave, who also put the kibosh to a trip south in recent weeks, one has to be comfortable with not only going, but with being, somewhere. if not---home is the softest place to land.

may 2013 bring you---and everyone on this forum---peace, joy and good health.
happy new year to all...

Go home, shovel snow for the next 3 months, then decide if you still want to quit snowbirding. Just sayin'...

I don't get the snowbird thing. I have been dividing my time between two homes for a few years and I really hate it. Moving twice a year, having to move stuff or have duplicates, leaving one house vacant- trailer might make it better but then living in a small space half the year... it just is not for me.

My longest trailer trip so far is 3 weeks, but that is not because I got tired of camping in the trailer. I think 3 months would be much the same..... but time will tell, God willing of course.

Rgrugg, you may feel like snowbirding again after a year or two off. If so, you might regret selling the kodiak too soon.

Well shoveling between 2" & 19" of snow out of my driveway every day for the last week sure makes it look attractive to me!
