stabilizing the hitch weight

does anyone have any experience in using a stabilizing bar to equalize the alignment between the casita and the towing vehicle in conjunction with using the ballast water ?

Sway is caused by an improper weight amount on the tongue, too low and the trailer sways. It can be caused by improper loading of the trailer, too much weight behind the trailer axle will make the tongue lighter. Only after properly loading the trailer to where 10-15% of the weight is on the tongue do you consider other methods, such as sway bars to control sway. Purchase a tongue weight scale like here to measure correctly your tongue weight Sherline Trailer Tongue Weight Scales

Ballast Water & Alignment??? Is that Casita thing, or are you talking about varying extra water loads to change hitch weight?

As mentioned above, don't do anything until you know both your trailers actual loaded weight and the actual loaded hitch weight, then re-ask the question.....

Many trailerites confuse terminology. Which do you mean?
  • Weight Distribution Hitch (spring Arm)
  • (Friction) Anti-Sway Bar
  • Stabilizing jack
