Stainless screws

Well, I have had a failure with with my Oliver. Turns out the little screws that hold the mirror on the bathroom wall are not stainless. They were starting to rust. Must be just chrome plated steel. The horror!

So I went up to Lowe's to find stainless ones. They had drawers and drawers of tiny screws. A #4 sheet metal screw was the one that fit the original.

Funny they come in a pack of 5. Not 4, not 8. Weird, but that's what they do. Cleaned up the rust that bled on the plastic brackets and put in the new screws. Done.

We had a similar issue with our new Escape, although not in the bathroom. Turns out the screw supplier sent them a batch of screws that were labeled stainless but were not. They have since had that entire batch replaced.

Why do they sell hot dogs in packs of ten and the buns in packs of eight? It's a conspiracy!
