Hey, Chester, you know the first snow is just going to melt within a day, leaving some time afterwards to squeeze in that last camping trip before winterizing the trailer!

Of course, that was my thinking last year regarding my garden hoses... which then spent the winter frozen to the lawn under ice and snow, because the snowfall which I thought was temporary turned out to be the beginning of actual winter.

Greg, winter is the season during which people get a chance to change their outdoor activities (e.g. from water skiing to alpine skiing), to get a break from yard work (or maybe just replace it with snow clearing) or just learn to appreciate summer more when it returns. Recently, I really appreciate summer...

I know what winter is... Since winter is the opposite of summer when the rain is warm, winter is when the rain is colder.
So a little cold rain aint gonna stop me from camping, no sirreee.
Although I might not spend much time in the mountains with that cold white stuff or maybe I'll need to dig out the nordic skis around January.

My hoses also spent the winter outside. There nice and cozy now.

If weather turns nice it only takes a few min to get ready.Cost is no big deal for new anti freeze.

Fortunately winter also has the added benefit of keeping the riff-raff out...

WINTER is that wonderful season when the community of Anthem Arizon tripples its population; but only for about 2 or 3 months, LOL!!!

Crazy fall weather!

Today - was a beautiful 75 degree clear blue sky, sunny, late summerish day
Tonight - thunderstorms, rain, snow at higher elevations, and gusting northern winds forecast. The sky is already dark and gloomy

When they forecast thunderstorms and snow at the same time either they don't have a clue what's coming, or we're in for it good! I put my anitfreeze in on the weekend but found that 1 gal. wasn't enough - need to put one more in.

I WANT SUMMER BACK! (Yes, I'm yelling... It's over so fast )

Ches - do you bring your batteries in during the winter?

Thinking about winter, the Bigfoot has 'an exterior shower complete with winterizing valves'. Does anyone know what the winterizing valves are?

(I hope to get to use the trailer before I winterize it)

Thanks

Hi Lainey
I leave batteries on trailer.I fully charge them and check once a month.I never had a problem doing it that way.
I was told once by a RV teck guy that best place for batteries was to fully charge them and put in deep freeze.Havent tried it yet

We generally bring our battery in for the winter. But didn't remember until about January last season, and, with a good charge on it, it survived just fine.

To the winter deprived folks - how about we set up some sort of "heat exchange" along about January or February?? (pretty please?)

Charge the battery, disconnect and forget. Heat is what kills batteries. No problems over years of Manitoba winters....

Rick, just like the shut-off valves on your water heater, there are shut-off valves on the outside shower plumbing. That allows you to winterize that plumbing, and then turn it off and still use the inside plumbing when it's cold without freezing the outside shower plumbing.

Thanks Roger, I don't think my last two stick builts had that on the outside shower, but certainly worthwhile.
