Strike anywhere matches

Does anybody know where to get real strike anywhere matches?

I've tried the new diamond ones...they don't strike anywhere.

I found an old box of US made ones in my camper, I got excited...they must have been damp, they just smolder, and don't light anywhere.

I want matches you can light on you pants, your zipper, fingernail, teeth, etc.

These don't work? World is full of disappointment ain't it. We used to do the one hand thing with book matches back before the strike moved to the back of the book. So one day the whole book went whoosh and surprised me. Nothing soggy about that mixture.

If you figure that out, maybe you can ask why the "waterproof" matches come in a box that collapses into a soggy mass if it gets wet, so there is no strike strip.

I want the old matches, where if you had a handful in your pocket and sneezed, you turned yourself into a small IED.

Ohio Blue Tip. I think they are gone. All I can find are the Diamond Green light strike on the box. At least they are made here. I believe the strike anywhere are considered hazardous and carry an increased shipping charge which may be why no one carries them?? Raz

I've got a few boxes made by Penley that say "strike anywhere". I just tried one on a zipper and it lit, didn't try on my teeth. I found them a couple years ago in a little store outside a campground in the Finger Lakes area of NY. Bought 4 boxes.

I Googled and found them several places. Here is one for example and they were on ebay too. Maybe I need to get some. Back in the 50s we would break the heads off and wrap them in aluminum foil and try to make rockets. That was when you could buy cherry bombs and the parents werent worried you would blow you fingers off or kill the neighbors cow with your BB gun

I used to shoot them out of a BB or pellet gun. They would light when they glanced off a rough surface. You could also pack the heads into a hollow lead pellet and they would explode on impact.

Used CO2 cartridges filled with match heads make great rockets, and only blow up every once in awhile. Don't ask how I know...

Yea, and what about lawn darts? As a kid, I couldn't believe they let us play with them. We would throw them up in the air as high as we could and dodge them as they came down. How did we survive?

I blew up my share of plastic models with the heads of ordinary match book matches. We would cut them out of the books, and stuff a model full of them. What fun!

I buy "strike anywheres" at Safeway. Maybe it's a regional thing.

If anyone wants to strike 'em on shoesoles like oldtimers did, though, good luck finding a pair of shoes with leather soles!

We were playing Lawn Darts and my wife pitched one up and my mother-in-law just stood there watching it arc downwards and it went right into her inner thigh and stuck deep. Dang. We threw them away. She was only in her 50s at the time but she was like a deer in the headlights on that missile. Wonder why I am alive sometimes.

The diamond strike anywhere matches don't work. They do work on the box better than the safety ones.

Well, I just checked and I have 5 new boxes of Diamond Strike Anywhere matches. And I have 2 boxes which are currently open.

I took matches out of both the new white tip and new blue tip boxes and several matches from the currently open boxes.

They all worked fine for me. I struck them on bricks, metal and a pair of levi's. I thought the blue ones worked better, which surprised me because I didn't even realize I had any blue tipped matches.
