Hi, stevebaz:

Two feeding dishes, one water bowl. One sleeps at my feet, the older one sleeps under my bed in a plastic barrel liner used as a dog bed, a bath/shower basin, and a wading pool for those very hot afternoons. Three uses.

Which is fair enough, since the pugs really have no use whatsoever...except to eat leftovers and bark. And snuggle. And be cute. And accept kisses and attention. And sit next to us all the time. And keep my feet warm. And greet every child and three-quarters of the adults they meet as if they are the answer to life, the universe, and everything...and... No--no uses at all.

8)

thanks--
Kai

Guess what? You can go "glamping" (glamorous camping) without bringing extra "stuff". Decorate your trailer with curtains, bedding, pillows, dinnerware, spare tire cover and stuffed animals. (Ok, so maybe you don't "need" stuffed animals, but they do add an element of fun in very little space.)

Talking Glamping it up in Peanut

Sure, Gilda, you do a great glamping effect! We're not likely to equal yours.
But even so...who can resist doing at least some glamping with fabrics, shapes, decals, matching things and whatnot? Not me!

New rear lamps installed for reading and mood lighting (LED bulbs) to the left and right on the wall under the upper rear cabinet.

Spare tire cover design ("this'll do")---I drew it on with a black paint pen. (We hadn't decided on naming it Peanut yet...so until I get a new spare cover, guess thistledew!)

Basic upholstery/pillows in blending/matching colors as photo'd by Paul. The curtains can be rolled neatly, bow-tied as shown here, V-folded...half folded...they are magnetic, sticking to the rod and magnets mounted on the walls below with central screws. Double fleece, insulating and fun to play with.

Added cutesies on door & door window (monkey and pug & crossbones)

We have only one stuffed animal, a hound-dog neck pillow, not shown here. We don't need more stuffed animals, really, as we have the pug girls who fill in nicely, especially when they've had their meal plus leftovers and are pretty stuffed themselves....

BEST
Kai

Nu-Wave? Another dud?

Just came back from campin' 4 days.

A lady we met lounging in the pool raved over her Nu-Wave plate/baker.

Saw them on infomercials (which makes me think hmmm) But she said it was great. Liked it better than her RV oven, microwave, and convection oven. Quit using them and mostly just uses the Nu-Wave. Said it didn't heat up her RV.

Anyone ever taken the plunge and bought one of these puppies?

Supposed to be ~$100. The ole buy one get one free gambit (with separate shipping and "handling.") I always think of "handling" as a sneaky way of copping a feel or something.

Hadn't heard of a campster before.

I hurriedly hunted here and there was a 70s model.

Are they producing new ones?
Got a picture to share?

Pug Person,

I'm going "off topic" but I claim the right to so there because I started this topic.

We have a border collie we would really like to take with us.
Any tips on how to civilize a pooch quickly so as not to roust up a campground?

Thought of using a gentle leader on her muzzle and tug when she started to bark.
Want to try just a night or two locally to see if she will be a good camper.
That way if we are booted out we won't lose much.

Used to take our 2 Scotties, both now at the bridge. They actually did pretty well but they got the "long arm of the law" (flyswatter) until they learned there is a good time and a bad time to bark. A spray bottle of water until we figured out they actually liked being cooled down with it.

Great hint on no duplications.

We are trying our level best to train ourselves not to bring so much stuff.
We aren't "ecofriendly" and use plastic ware and paper plates for instance.
All in an effort to keep the weight down. Sorry tree hugger types we are old.

Only pack a skillet and a boiling pot for cooking.
Do most outside on our UFO small charcoal grill or the lightweight 2 burner propane stove.

I'm trying to stick with a "theme."
Our "motif" is grey and blue.
Have zigzag slip covers on "dinette" tan/gray/blue/crème with 2 wild pillows of mostly blue paisley and accent colors.
A blue multicolored accent quilt, blue, grey, white paisley shower curtain.
That way we have variation without going too ketchy.

The temptation is there all the time to add more stuff.
I am fighting it!
However ask me in 6 mo. if I have slipped.

So far so good.

Ha! Love it. Beer weight doesn't count. We had some this week camping. Got the aluminum screw bottle types that we could reseal and pop back into the ice when it wasn't going down fast.
We wax towards margaritas, lime, salt on a rimmed plastic cup.
Just ice, have resisted the temptation to bring a blender thus far.

I see a whole lot of things in your pictures that easily could be left behind.

We come from different experiences into the world of small trailers. We came from years of spending a lot time backpacking. Trailer living is luxury comparatively speaking. Multipurpose is pretty important when you have to carry things on your back.
Things I no longer carry... Stove, two burner first one was white gas(coleman fuel) the second propane, Now were down to the MSR single burner stove for cooking outside.
Dutch ovens -- 3 or 4 (I own 6), never used because other methods were easier.
Chaise lounges -- Discovered I could be just as comfortable sitting folding directors chairs. Besides most of the time is spent walking and looking at the surroundings.
Wheel anti-theft device -- used once. Too much trouble for nothing. Much nicer to get to know the campers around you.
Power extension cord -- Nice idea but I'm never where I can plug in anyway.
City water hose -- First was a flat roll up on reel thing. A pain to use, second a regular white fresh water hose. I'm never connected so why bother.

That's just a small sampling... Mostly I wanted to pretend I camping is nice large RV, but decided I was getting more enjoyment out less. Less is more in our case. More time to look at the wild flowers, watch the wild life or the trees growing. Looking for the rhythm of a stream. Listening to wind in the trees, or in the desert looking at the colors of the bare hills.

Couple things others have dissed. I have a Flush King, similiar as Roberts Flush Pro that he doesn't like, back flushes the tanks fine as far as I can tell.

The Anderson levelers work fine by myself when used with a Level Master on the front of the camper.

Things I don't use, or almost never. 10 pc Magma cookset. the 2 old pots we take along get all the use, the Magma is too heavy to pull out and unstack.

Thermacell bug repellent. Doesn't work any better then the citronella candles.

LaFuma zero gravity chair, way to bulky and heavy.

Northern Breeze screen house. Built to last forever, too heavy and bulky, hard to put up.

A number of tools or maint items, like a tire plug set. In 45 years I've never plugged a tire, on anything.

I'm sure there's a number of kitchen gadgets in the drawer I used once.

.
We love our Northern Breeze screen house, and have a routine where the two of us can put it up quick and easy. Couldn't have lived without it the three winters we spent in our Uhaul. Our teardrop will fit inside it.
