Surprise

Many of you know we purchased a Park model in our Florida Escapee park this year, really a perfectly sized two person home. Now that we have space we've become entertainers. We have had well over 100 people over during the last 5 months, usually at night for desert and coffee, but also a number of parties and dinners.

We also have had a number of overnight guests. Last week Ginny's NH sister visited for a week, really her first real RV park visit. Now she's really a fun person with a sharp, fast wit..a joy to spend time with.

What was interesting was how much she loved our park and most importantly the parks people. She felt everyone was inviting and inclusive, something Ginny and I have found true of Rvers.

She also found Florida surprisingly interesting. Most visitors to FL go to FL's marvelous coasts or Disney's Orlando. Not us, we're in orange grove and cattle country. We took her to see the 100's of square miles of Phosphate mines with their 100 populated Osprey nests, to our you pick(et) vegetable farm (particularly strawberries) and to meet Denise the wonderful owner, a real FL lady. We took her to get smooth fl orange ice cream, to see a huge wild hog, to drive 20 mile long, dead straight roads with nothing but potato fields, groves and cattle. There is another Florida, a quiet, peaceful Florida without traffic,
with fewer tourists.

We virtually drive the length of FL, rarely touching the Interstates, on roads where 60-65 is the norm and the locals drive even faster.

Oh sure we occasionally visit a city like Lakeland to see spring training, or Sarasota to go to Trader Joes however their is excellent local theater within 20 miles and too many restaurants to eat them all.

Bonnie's blue eyes were opened to another Florida. One that truly charmed her. Of course coming from frigid NH she was wowed by our mid 80s weather, she could not believe she was in the same country, in our heated pool almost every day.

SHe did miss our St Patricks dinner, the dance that followed and the late night, after hours dip in the heated pool but she vowed to return next year as did our Seattle son and wife after their earlier week long stay. There's much to like about the 2nd rural Florida.

Look for the new and different on Life's road....
