Anyone have one of these?

Good product or not?
The Talking Road Whiz is a pocket-sized electronic device full of the travel information you need when driving anywhere on the Interstate highway system, information that maps don't have.

I've never seen it before but I have everything I need at my fingertips with my Garmin GPS and it also has maps and points of interests, like gas and camping sites etc can be downloaded and updated. It wouldn't be of interest to me.

never saw that. also don't have a gps. i do have a road atlas,,,and a compass. and an odd penchant for never asking for directions,,,,but i bet i have more adventures.

Kevin, I also have that Garmin. But I don't fully trust the GPS so I carry my maps with me also.

My GPS pretty well has all I need to know on it - including traffic delays. I also carry maps of areas I am heading to so I have some idea as to the route I think I should take so than when I plug where I am going into the GPS & look at the route it plans I have a good idea as whether or not its got it right or not. Most often its correct but from time to time it does try to send me down a road that just isnt going to happen. Once while in the desert it tried to send me down a road that while it was a much shorter route to where I was going I am pretty sure on seeing it that it had been closed for a long long time due to major wash out. Apparently no one has ever told Garmin about the wash out. ;-))

Carrying maps is always a good idea. I've used a GPS since 1998, (aging myslef). A GPS receiver is a great thing as long as it's working. If it stops the a paper map is needed. Also it's a lot easier to look at larger areas on a map than on the GPS screen.
I hate to think of the number of time I've heard "recalculating" because I want to get there a different way than the GPS wants send me.

As for the "Talking Road Whiz" (interesting name, which I won't comment on). It's probably a waste of money. NOTE the link above, the add say "factory overrun price" -- Translation, we couldn't this thing.

I've DeLorme on the Netbook... that's got the universe on it and with its GPS I'm good to go. When I'm in cell phone range my iPhone 4s pretty much takes care of everything. The other thing is that the aforementioned device is going to be out of date pretty quickly...and I'd wager it will never ever be updated.

Years ago we had a Road Whiz ( i think I still have it in my old electronic stuff ) it did not talk,but seems to have had all the same functions as this one. We enjoyed it and used it a lot on our many trips from Tx to Mi . Of course that was before our GPS,Ipod touch ,i phone and now Ipad. "IF" we did not have or all the above items I would get the Talking Road Whiz.......

You know just thinking i might get one anyway, if I still have my first one, just for the fun of it

So I took my glasses off and I thought the title of this said taking road wiz...I thought I gotta see what this post is about.. Sorry im no help, I use my garmin and google navigation in my phone...
