Tampa Florida

Does any one know of some good reasonably priced campgrounds in the Tampa Florida area ? I have looked on the internet and most campgrounds in the area only offer seasonal sites or want $45.00 / day to camp . I looked at Fort DeSoto , a Pinnelas county park and they charge approx $45.00 / night , a bit steep for our taste . My wife and I have never visited Florida and at $45.00/ night we probably never will . I am used to paying $14.00 to $20.00 a night at the State Parks in my area. Any suggestions?

Florida State parks start at about $22 per night with water and Elec. Lake Manatee SP is just south east of Tampa. Oscar Scherer SP is a further south. It is a little late to find long term stays for this season in the SP's.

We are doing all of February in various state parks in Florida. A few days at Fort DeSoto. Reserved them all months ago.

Trimble Park, Mt. Dora

I think it was $20 to $25 a night here: give them a call.

Trimble Park, Mt. Dora

North of Tampa a couple of hours.

Some Hillsborough County parks offer RV sites with hookup for $24 - Lithia Springs is one, on a freshwater spring (the website says primitive but they do in fact have hookups there); Edward Medard is another, on a reservoir; E.G. Simmons is another, on the edge of the Bay. There are also 3 state parks in the area with RV camping, Hillsborough River SP ($24), Alafia River SP ($22), and Little Manatee River SP ($24).
