Texas state fair??

Has anyone been to the Texas state fair? What is it like? Is it worth driving out of your way to attend?

Thanks in advance all.

Well i live in the DFW area and have gone to the State Fair every year for the last 50 years or so. So I guess I would say yes it is worth going to.

And it has everything you could expect at a State Fair.

We live in Ft. Worth and just ride the TRE (train) and Dart (train) to Fair Park, parking will be your biggest problem, especially if you have a trailer to deal with and even if you don't it's expensive, $20.00 just for your auto, probably the least you can get by with. We go on Senior Thursday, $2.00 Senior TRE price from Ft. Worth and free to get in at the fair and it drops you off at the front gate. Many say they spend $200.00 plus just to take a family of four for a day, we did it on $4.00, plus $20.00 for food and drink.

Thanks for the info folks. No surprises except for the parking warning.
