Thanksgiving camping....
Anyone planning on going camping this Thanksgiving? A lot of cg's are closing and finding one open with a nice restaurant nearby is almost impossible. Any suggestions?

We'll be going to Garner State Park in the Texas Hill Country. We're really looking forward to a relaxing trip. If you see our Casita drop on by and say hello. We've got coffee or other drinks and if you see the pit smoking, dinner.
Happy Camping!

The Las Vegas Dutch Oven Enthusiasts and NV Tear Jerkers are having their Grape Thanksgiving gathering in Parump NV the last weekend of Oct. at the Wine Ridge RV Park. Lots of good food, Teardrop, FG, and home made trailers. There is usually more than enough food to feed campers in the park.
As for the actual Thanksgiving holiday, I usually head down to LV for Wen & Thurs. & Friday, have a buffet dinner at either M Casino or Bellagio. Get up early on Friday and do some Black Friday shopping.

We and several other couples usually go to BLM or State Trust Land, deep fry a turkey in peanut oil, sit around a campfire and go 4x4 wheeling the next day.

Last year on Thanksgiving we were at Henderson Beach state park in the Florida panhandle. A local restaurant did a meal to benefit Habitat for Humanity. You paid whatever you wanted. It was a nice meal and included desert and drink. This year we will be at Huntington Beach SP in SC. We'll ask the staff for recommendations.

Meeting up with family at S. Llano River State Park, near Junction, TX. We don't need a restaurant nearby, although we might send out for some Cooper's pork chops on Friday!

Trapp Pond St. Pk. Near Laurel DE. There T-giving 23-26 Nov. 2012. Lots of diehards. Outdoor Bingo brrrrrr! Nature Center still running the odd program for the kids. Cypress knees and interesting waterfowl at this time of yr. We took the leftover bird with us so can't address the dining opportunities in Laurel. Jack

i'll be on sc's beautiful coast at myrtle beach state park for thanksgiving week. not my first choice but, as i discovered, thanksgiving camping at the beach is very popular and myrtle beach was the only one with open sites. if anyone's in the neighborhood feel free to stop by.

Two years ago we were at Trapp Pond Thanksgiving night. Just used it for an overnight stop. Left home about noon because one of the grandkids was on the Sesame Street float in Macy's parade in NYC so we had to see that first. Thanksgiving meal that day was a sandwich. Patrick, will you be at Myrtle before Thanksgiving day. We were thinking of a stop there before we get to Huntington Beach on the 25th, but have not made a reservation. Going to look at a Casita today.

Patrick, we have been to Brookgreen Gardens. Looked at a 1996 Casita Liberty Deluxe today that friends are considering selling. I think we will buy it but will also need to buy a tow vehicle as our Honda won't handle it. We have to connect with some other friends at Southport and Wilmington before arriving at Huntington.

We'll be at Ft. Pickens the Saturday thru Tuesday nights before Thanksgiving. Site #A21. Hope it's better weather than last year at that time. That was the trip that convinced us to sell the pop-up and get the Casita. It was so windy (and cold) we thought the pop-up would blow away.
