The Awning

My consider my husband a pretty handy guy so when we decided to fix the awning and put it back on the Scamp, easy-squeezy right? Everything went fine until someone decided to put a little more tension on one side. Down hill from there. It probably would have ended up in the Upper Iowa River had it not been attached to the camper. I now have lots $380 worth of parts to make other parts. Not a good Saturday. And he was so disappointed in himself. So, at least the awning is attached to the Scamp again for now. Plan B is to take the parts to where husband works and have them "heavily modified."

I've been there, done that on other projects. You do a hundred things right, and then something like this comes along.
I always just step back and take a break from whatever it is I'm destroying. lol
Usually a beer follows. That's one thing I've never messed up. ;>)

Its always that 'last little adjustment' that can cause the issue. You may also be able to get replacement parts? Good luck on the next setup !

My husband took the offending part to work and his guy did a miracle. I guess they have some industrial strength glue to you use on aluminum. Who knew? Awning is back on trailer but will never be 100% normal but as you can see by the picture it is a miracle it looks as good as it does. This one never seemed to act as good as the one on our 13 footer. Now we just meed to get that new and improved 5th wheel hitch from Scamp so we can pull our sticky 5ver, Hunting Lodge /Man Camper. <_<
