The "BIG DIG" in Maine

You all heard of the Big Dig in Boston Massachusettes well here is the Big Dig in Brownfield Maine. Here it is the last few days of March and I got reservations for May 2nd.
Poor old Lady-Bug still wants to sleep in but I have other plans for her so I got the shovels out and started the BIG DIG.
After 3 days of shoveling and an 6 inch snow storm inbetween here is where I am about 1/2 way out to the road...well gotta get back "OH MY BACK" AT IT.

What, no volunteers
Not too bad for a 53 year old who has an artificial hip and thigh bone.
All this will keep me in shape so when I start to cut fire-wood this summer I will be in shape ( I do cut with a chain saw and a few years back, had to buy a wood splitter. Splitting 20 cord of wood by hand got alittle too much).
The snow blower died in early Feb. but it wouldn't be able to cut through the ice layers in the snow anyway. I know some of you are wondering why not have a tractor come in but the ground under the snow is not frozen at all and that would really make a mess of my back yard so the shovel is the way to go.
250 feet down and only another 150 to go.
For those of you who missed it, here is a pict of my camper just back on March 3rd.
Yes that pile of snow is Lady-Bug in hibernation with snow pulled off the roof.

Hey Gerry. I used to live in Presque Isle up in "The County" so I've shoveled a bit of snow too. When we moved there I told the wife I would shovel snow for exercise. After moving 18" of "light snow" from the first snowstorm of the season I trucked down to Sears and bought the biggest snow blower they had in stock.

Reminder for next fall:

A. Park trailer closer to the road.

OR

B. Buy a skidder with a good hitch.

I was sure that "digging out" your camper was a figure of speech. Then I clicked the photo! Don't you folks in Maine know that its Spring now? Put all that snow away and start planting your gardens...sheesh

We had lived in upstate NY (9 years) and Northern Aroostock County Maine (5 years). After more hours shoveling that "freezy-Skid-Stuff" -- strapped a snow shovel on the bumper and started driving South. First time we stopped for gas and someone asked, "What's that tied to your bumper?" -- That's where we stayed.

PHEWWW...Finaly got the BIG DIG done on Thursday!!!
I should of had a contest to see who would have guessed how long it was going to take.
I spent an hour chipping ice from away from stabilizer jacks and wheel chocks so I will be able to move the Bug. You know there's mot much room to swing a hatchet under a 1980 Boler?!?!
Now we are getting rain and alittle snow mixed in so the back lawn where Lady-Bug is parked maybe a little soft to drive on so I will wait for the BIG MOVE on Monday or Tuesday.
I will post Pictures of that too.
Here is the other half of the road I needed to shovel to get The Lady-Bug out.

Love the photos you've shown us. A little price for living in that great part of the country.Why not get a tractor with a big blower and then you could cut your wood in the summer and blow driveways in the winter. Would help pay for the cost of another stripper.

Project comes in ahead of schedual and under budget with no ill effects to body...Thank God for the hot tub every night.
