You could see when he made about the second pass he pushed the whole trailer sideways in a jackknife position..... I said to myself "He bent the trailer tongue" and sure enough at the end of the video when he was driving away you could see the bent tongue on the trailer..... obviously not his trailer.

LOL, wouldnt it have been easier to just disconnect the trailer and move it by hand? It looks light enough.

He didn't bend the trailer tongue. Unlike our eggs, the trailer is connected to the truck by a bar with swivels at both ends.

It pivots (tires and all) at the center of the front axle on the trailer and he clearly went back too far when it was at 90 degrees and it caught the right side of the bumper and when he pulls away in the last frame you can see a distinct bend in it.

I don't know how you saved those pictures like that but i like it. I saved the picture the only way i know how thru paint shop..... My eyes may be playing tricks on me but the timer down bottom of the video stop it at 1:37 and tell me what you think.

Mine was a screen cap made with OneNote. I am not sure that the hitch is perfectly flat. The tongue could curve up so if you view it from slightly above it could look bent from some angles?

It's a really low resolution video so at times it seems like the whole trailer is bent!

I would have driven off the cliff somewhere around 00:36!

IMHO It's a "Y" tongue. In that frame, you see the straight portion of the tongue and the Y section. Your eye picks up the near portion of the Y and the straight section so it looks curved but in reality, it isn't.

Looking at that video closer i think you are both right.....angles are deceiving.

Actually, it doesn't matter if there's anything bent or not. The important thing is to get the name of that driver so that none of us will ever make the mistake of letting him drive our rigs!

I have a slightly different take. That trailer is not a new Cadillac or travel trailer. In a logging operation things get scraped and bent. I could not see any damage. If it had bent the tongue they would probably heat it up with a torch and pull it the other way with the truck to fix it. The repair would take about 15 minutes and cost about $15 dollars. That manuever was an example of extraordinary skill. I am sure that is not the only trick that driver knows. If you needed to hire drivers to haul logs in that environment where would you find them? Not one driver in 500,000 could pull that off.

Bruce, I agree he is a skilled driver but I would like to see that done with the trailer loaded with logs. But I am wondering why he backed down the road a ways then turned around. Ususally in these environments there are turn around points.

It's a dirt logging road. My guess is that was the turn around point!
