thermal windows

I am looking at a 2009 Bigfoot and love everything about it except it doesn't have thermal windows. Is this going to be a problem?

I do not believe our Scamp or any of the Scamps have thermal windows. I not sure if many do. But it is just a guess on my part. I wouldn't think not having them would be problematic. We use a thermal material over the window and vents to shield heat and cold from getting in or out. Photo shows the material on the ceiling vent openings (the smaller one is the Fantastic Fan opening, the larger is a vent/escape hatch). The Second Photo shows the material on the back window.

Could not get these on with the other two photos: Cover on the window by the kitchen sink and stove. Stove is covered by a Corian Store Top Cover.

Are you looking at a specific '09 Bigfoot? Since solar reflective thermal pane windows are an option on the Bigfoots and it sounds like you're buying new, it seems like you should be able to get one with those windows if you want them. I have them as part of the winter package on my Bigfoot motorhome and they are nice windows.

We sure enjoy our reflective thermal pane windows. The reflective coating on the windows makes it very hard to see into the trailer during daylight hours. They of course help with both the outside heat and cold. It wouldn't seem like a Bigfoot without them. One should also consider how it will affect the resale value and salability of your trailer down the road. You will already be spending a lot of money, might as well spend another 1,000 and get the windows.

That's the only upgrade we wish "Nuestra Casita" had. We've added them to 2 of our homes and wish we had them on the TT. That said, the Casita's insulation works quite well the way it is, but thermo-pane windows would be "the icing on the cake"

I had reflective material on my 93 Bigfoot, but they were not thermal pane windows. I never had a problem with them , but I didn't do any winter camping with it either.

Hi Chris,

We have the double-glazed, solar reflective windows in our TT and they are nice. They do cut down on condensation as well as adding insulation. However, I don't think their absence should be a deal breaker, if you otherwise like the trailer. Perhaps I would have a different opinion if I were a big fan of camping in subfreezing weather.

I have a question for those of you who have been shopping for a new Bigfoot TT. Do you know the model of the china toilet upgrade they are offering, particularly on the 17.5? The stock one is a plastic Thetford. We are considering an upgrade in our 2004 and are leaning toward the Sealand Traveler Lite. We liked the Sealand Traveler in our 1998 Casita.

Hi: Chris... A lot of our Transit Busses in the 90's had Thermo/dual pane windows and they were a real dual pain!!! Most of the seals failed and the windows filled with condensation making them look like aquariums/and or they went foggy and you couldn't see through them any way. With the flexing of the fiberglass this could be the end result and poss. a resale nightmare!!! My 2 cents worth.
