Thinking of upgrading

I'm thinking of upgrading from a Scamp 13' Deluxe to a 16' standard or deluxe. Any pros and cons? I'm one of the lucky ones that can back up trailers without problems so I'm not worried about the 16'. Mine is in such nice shape, I'm not sure yet if I can get rid of it, but I sure would like the extra space.

16' is still a very reasonable size. Thinking you won't see much difference in backing or towing. An extra 3' is always nice.

As to backing up I always believe a 13' is harder than a 16'.

We have a 16 and find it's very nice, actually really great. It's carried us every where and we feel in comfort.

Saying that, we used a Casita 16 for a year and liked that as well.

Our son has a Scamp 13, our only issue with it is the lack of a nighttime bathroom.

That's upsizing, not upgrading!

Of course you will have three more feet of trailer.
You will have more ground clearance as well.
You will have an extra step up for entry.
Slightly less stability in traffic at speed.
less garage clearance and space.
less access to drive-up windows.
smaller bed width on standard 16.
bigger better brakes on the 16.
side dinette could mean permanent bed and separate permanent dinette(for two)

Most importantly...If you're sure about your choice, you will have the satisfaction of having a near unique and practical camper which will give years of pride and service.

We have owned our 13Deluxe for 9 years now and it is still perfect for our needs and desires. We won't be upsizing anytime soon.
Think twice, then choose the "perfect sized" Scamp
