This one may hit you off guard like it did me

When I went camping last weekend I put a sign on the camper that had 3 parrots on it that said welcome. Well during the weekend I got a lot of people that walked by and some were very open to talk about certain things. After awhile I wondered what kind of camp ground is this and the next couple that came up to me asked where I got the parrot sign. Then they let me know it was a sign of being swingers.
Well being hit in the head and thinking about all the people that came up to talk I started to wonder. This is not like I never went camping before but this is the first time I put a parrot sign out that said welcome.
As anyone ever heard of parrots meaning that your a swinger? I never heard it and I just thought it was a Florida thing ect ect.
Now that I had a couple of days thinking about what happen on our camping trip I think maybe I should tell the wife what happen because of the parrot sign. I Goggled it and didn't see nothing but maybe it is a new thing.

I don't know if a parrot has any meaning other than nice color scheme.

While the OP is interesting, curious and a bit funny, please refrain from using inappropriate language for this forum in your replies. I just deleted and edited a bunch of OT posts.

That said, I too have never heard any reference to parrots and a swinging lifestyle, but could be I am too sheltered.

You could make another small sign underneath that says "no swingers just like parrots" and see what happens. That's kind of a social experiment.

I wonder if it's because you three on the sign. Mistaken for 3 love birds.

I Googled it also, and it took some searching, but I found a link to Polyamory.

Quote:
Another is the image of a parrot, since "Polly" is a common name for these birds.[19] PolyOz states in its polyamory glossary that "The parrot is a common poly "mascot" or symbol. Punning on 'poly wanna X'".[20] A 2003 article in The Guardian states "Today America has more than 100 poly email lists and support groups. Their emblem, which marks the table when they meet in restaurants, is the parrot (because of their nickname Polly)."[21] Author Mystic Life describes this symbol an ironic reference to parrots' monogamy
