I need to go out today and see what kind of axle set up we have in 006. I've been so darn busy I keep forgetting to look!

Frank
Hi Frank. So sorry I didn't see your post about being curious as to why we want axle lift on PL. We primarily don't want clearance to be an issue when it comes to backing into our driveway. Also really would like to be able to tow our PL off road when opportunity arises. Basic off road not ATV terrain. What does your PL 006 have regards to axle set up? --BL and Bev (2 sisters)

As Cari and i look forward to season two with our 2013 PL#35 i am patting myself on the back on being a brave-early-adopter. When we ordered our PL last January the base price was 14,900...this year's 2014 model base price is 15,900. I realize this is just part of doing business, and a price increase was inevitable i suppose, though i've already been in contact by one shopper who has shelved the idea due to the price hike.

I should do some research and compare with the egg-competitors and see what increase/change they went through just as a wet-winter doodle couped up inside.

Happy 2014!
Thom

I do not care what the base price is! We are pleased to have #006, and are sticking with it. I'm still pinching myself...

It's hard to break the mind set that things get more expensive.
But it's actually that the money goes down in value. As long as
the Fed continues to print money out of thin air, money value will
go down and prices will appear to go up.

An increase of 6 1/2 percent does seem hefty and certainly exceeds the current rate of inflation (1.2%) but when you take into account the re-engineering of wheel wells, battery storage and axle/frame design and it is easy to understand the increase. Trials and tribulations aside, we love our ParkLiner too, and eagerly anticipate the 2014 camping season.
Cheers and best wishes for a great year.

Lil Snoozy is $18,995 now.
I think that may be a grand increase from last year, not sure.

It started out less than 15,000.

Of course not, since it's based on the CPI which doesn't take into account things like gasoline and food and the figure is as of last November.

I think it was Mark Twain who made some reference to lies, damned lies, and statistics. Take your choice.

I just checked my invoice and my base price was $17,995,
so they have increased a thousand dollars also.

But in silver or gold they'd all be the same price they started out as.
But in paper money (phony money) the price goes up and up and up.
That was one of the minor reasons we bought one last year.
Regardless of brand.

Inflation and the Money Supply

We can also have inflation and deflation by changing the amount of money in the system. If the government decides to print a lot of money, then dollars will become plentiful relative to oranges, just as in our drought situation. Thus inflation is caused by the amount of dollars rising relative to the amount of oranges (goods and services), and deflation is caused by the amount of dollars falling relative to the amount of oranges. Thus, as shown by the article "Why Does Money Have Value?", inflation is caused by a combination of four factors:

The supply of money goes up.
The supply of other goods goes down.
Demand for money goes down.
Demand for other goods goes up.

Frankly, doesn't matter to me what the dollar is doing US or international. I work for wages. If I decide to buy something, I think in "my money." I budget, I plan and I buy. I don't add stress to my life by thinking woulda/shoulda/coulda. Every minute of your life that goes by... you never get back. Enjoy the moment, it will NEVER pass this way again...

Not to worry Donna, it all comes out in the wash.

Minimum wage was $1.00/hr.
Milk was $.89/ gallon.
Minimum wage was $1.25/hr.
Milk was $1.89/gallon.

Not long ago wages were $10.00.
Milk is $5.00/gallon or there abouts.

Cars were 3,000 dollars.
Now they're 30,000 dollars.

$1/hr. = $3,000 dollars
$10.00/hr. = $30,000 dollars.

It's all relative.
Just move the decimal point.
Anyway us old timers can since we were taught decimals.

Peace of mind is all that counts.

Donna as always is right!
Life itself is priceless and you can not replay it or buy it back.
Make the best of it no matter the cost.

We've all got used to moderate inflation however the potential for hyper-inflation exists.

Well today is the day... Parkliner #35 was dropped off at the boat yard here in my hometown that is in contact with the Parkliner folks to complete the fiberglass modifications on the wheel wells. From what i saw in the email from Parkliner the fiberglass tech at the boat yard will be carefully removing about 1" from the outside face of the wheel well and then re-glassing the area. The work should be completed in about 2 weeks and i will report back with photos

Thumbs up

Thanks Carl, i'm believing it will too.

& Now that we have lifted the AWD van another 3"... i might just have the local trailer guy take the PL up a few inches too. We will see. I'd add Rhino Lining to the lower area to match the van also if it would work on the fiberglass, might be another research project

Thom,
Best wishes on the repair work. I thoroughly expect you'll be as pleased with the result as we are with the job done on #34.
