If I wasn't loyal enough to Timmy's before, I sure am now.
I had too much on the go earlier and left my purse behind at a Tim Hortons earlier today. Oh the panic when I realized what I did. I could literally feel all the blood drain out of my face!
I was already 20 mins. down the highway and couldn't even phone to ask them to look for it because of course my phone was in my purse. It's not the $$ so much as the bank and credit cards etc. Usually I don't have much cash on me, but I did have about $80 today. It was right at lunch time, so there would have been a steady stream of people coming and going.
When I got there the custodial employee had found it and turned it in to his manager. Nothing was missing, although I am now a bit lighter on cash as I made sure the employee was thanked for his honesty.
Two Thumbs Up for an honest service industry worker!!

Karma can be a good thing too!
Hope someone returns the favor for him, and you to someone else if the situation ever arises.

Lainey,
That's great that you got your purse back intact, but I have to admit I was a little disappointed when I read the thread.
When I saw the topic title, I started drooling. Although Country Style is my favorite donut, Tim runs a close second.
I really miss having donut stores all over town as they were in Canada. We have one store here in town and it doesn't compare to the Canadian variety.

What 'goes around comes around' doesn't it? Or one good turn deserves another.
With the labour crunch here in Alberta a lot of fast food outlets have reduced their operating hours, closed the drive thru or dining room leaving only one option staffed, etc. so the staff are hard for employers to come by. The fellow who found my purse was definately a new immigrant worker who is probably barely making it by on minimal wages in a boom town that is expensive to live in. What an honest man. I hope the money I gave him - which he repeatedly tried to refuse I might add - made a difference to his day.
Tim's is an institution!
It is the subject of Urban Legend even!

Tim Hortons' are about as common in some areas in Canada as Starbucks are in Seattle... and we have Starbucks, too.
They used to be the classic donut shop, open 24 hours serving coffee and donuts to truckers and all-night workers on breaks - the classic cop-in-a-donut-shop scenario. They now have a much wider menu range, and unfortunately the donut selection is a mere shadow of what it once was... and many of the stores close as early as 10 pm because they can't get enough staff in our Alberta labour market.
There was some excitement when the U.S. Krispy Kreme chain came to Canada, but in the end they flopped, unable to match Tim Horton's appeal. I discovered when visiting a donut shop in Houston that they open early in the morning, but close in the afternoon, because "why would anyone want donuts in the evening?". That's nuts... donuts are late-night snack food!

I'm OK with their donuts and coffee, but the thing I really like about Tim Horton's is their soups and sandwiches, which are all very good. I also like their serving sizes, which are large enough to fill the void in my tummy without demanding extra notches on the belt-line.

When will those of us at the bottom of the Left Coast see the results of the merger between Tim Horton's and Wendy's ?

You've just got to come up to a Bolerama in Sask. or Ontario. You can't miss a Timmies. Look for the cars lined up along the roadside, in any town or city, just before shift change.
'Sides we'd love to show off our country and expand your horizons a bit.
