I thought of this the last time we were towing our trailer, and people kept riding up on us, trying to bully us down the road. I know there isn't a whole lot you can do about rude drivers, but I thought maybe this would be a kinder way of getting their attention.

I like it direct but polite.

The concept works.. it makes folks stop and think.. they then realize, you can't go as fast as them and they just go around.

I had a bumper sticker on my 13.. "I wish it would go faster too!". I noticed a sharp decrease in tailgating after I put it on, and a sharp increase in respectful passing.

April, Most will see the humor in your tire cover, but there is always the one that will only get P.O'ed, but guess what? It's their problem! I think it's a cute way to say, Pass us!

Gina, where ever did you get your bumper sticker? I have a friend who has a concept car, that I need to buy one for. Thanks Robin

"I wish it would go faster too!"

That's good too! I think the important part is keeping it from stirring up anger or ill feelings in the driver, so any point of adding humor is a good thing.

I think I like Gina's bumper sticker the best, for a couple of reasons:

1) It gives a nice, "We're all in this together" feeling of putting you both on the same side.

2) Although I don't like people tailgating me, the last thing I want to encourage them to do is pass when they shouldn't, potentially killing us all (not that April wants that either, of course). Gina's sticker explains the problem in a friendly way, but doesn't tell the other driver what to do or when to do it.

I love the roads in Washington State, where they have pullouts every so often, and signs that inform one that it's "illegal to keep driving with more than five cars behind you." Then you (or the even slower person ahead of you) can simply pull over and let the faster ones go on their way.

Good point Raya. I know that there will be times when passing is not safe, and a driver must simply be stuck behind you for a time, until there is a safe place to either pull over or allow them to pass. I suppose I could just say "In a hurry? We're not"... and leave it at that. Ultimately, if a person is going to drive up your bumper there isn't a lot you can do if there is not a safe place to pull over. Some people are just not very aware, and might benefit from a freindly suggestion. I am still in the brainstorming stage of this idea, so if somthing better comes along, I might just change it.

What I don't like about it is the implicit "judgment". I suspect what you're trying to address here is the tailgating and not telling followers that they should or shouldn't be in a hurry, which is really their business. Just an impression, though. It shows what you're trying to say, but it's not quite "spot on" in my opinion.

I have very little travel experience w/ pulling a trailer, so I appreciate all the feedback. I have not made any commitments to this idea, so there is no harm done yet. You would think that other people would realize that you are pulling something, so you wouldn't be able to go as fast, and not tailgate in the first place, but the reality is there are many rude drivers who drive dangerously close, and make bad calls to save just a few mins. on the road. I was thinking it would appear to be more humorous, but maybe that's just the way my mind works. Still thinking this one through... keep the comments coming!

I know there are companies out there that make custom bumper stickers... might be worth making a few to hand out at a future gathering.

Also quite a few existing ones out there.

I had mine made.. a company on eBay, as I recall. There are hundreds of companies that will make them for you.. google is your friend.

Since I am fulltiming and working in RV parks, I have to keep my rig clean and boring. You can be turned down for jobs simply based on how your rig looks.. so I have kept the clutter to a minimum and not gotten another.

I want to tho.
