Today's earthquake

Should read TODAY'S Earthquake - but can't edit spelling in the title after posting! ( Sorry!)

We had a (relatively) local earthquake today. The only effects I noticed were that "Smokey" (one of my cats) ran around in panic with his fur & tail all puffed up, and the water in the pool was slowly sloshing back & forth.

However, it once again reminded me of why I ALWAYS keep the fresh water tanks filled (and drained & refilled weekly) and the batteries fully charged on both the Boler & the Bigfoot, as well as propane tanks full.

My husband and I didn't feel a thing here in the Aldergrove part of Langley. We were surprised when we heard about the quake on the evening news. Maybe we need to get a cat to give us the heads up that something is happening!!

Earthquake Perspective

On average there are 4 magnitude 5 or greater earthquakes everyday, 40 magnitude 4 or greater earthquakes and 400 magnitude 3 or greater earthquakes every day.

It's not too surprising when you consider that North America is moving towards Asia at the rate of 2 inches a year. In my life time, North America has moved about 10 feet closer to Asia. It's really amazing to imagine what it would take to move all of North America 10 feet to the west.
