Toilet Paper

What kind of TP and where do you buy yours?

An insert in the toilet system manual for my Sealand MasterFlush toilet says to use 1 or 2 ply quick dissolving tissue.

I found this article very helpful, make sure your read the
TPBDT (Toilet Paper Break Down Test)
http://www.aboutrving.com/pdfs/ToiletPaper.pdf

We do not use RV toilet paper as we found our regular type used at home actually broke down faster that the RV paper we had purchased when we tested them.

Huck, I suspect the issues of which TP one uses in their RV gets to be a bit more relevant the bigger the black water holding tank and how long you plan to leave the tank sitting before dumping. I agree with Ian just bring what every you use at home, I have never had any problems result from doing that.

You can test the paper you have by filling a jar with water and put a couple of sheets of your toilet paper inside, then put the lid on and shake it. If it starts to dissolve after a few seconds of rigorous shaking, it should be fine for use in the trailer.

I agree with Carol and Ian, just whatever you use at home. I like the really soft stuff like the bears on TV use.

Sorry, Joan only uses the soft 3 ply, and that is the type that disolved faster in the test than the RV 1 ply

If your camper is parked in a campground perminently do you still flush that TP down the toilet?? There would be no shaking of the camper to disolve it. I am one of those that put it in the garbage. Should I flush even if not moving camper for months or even years?

Well I don't drive with water in my black tank so I don't count on moving the trailer to dissolve the TP .... just flash after each use and empty the tank as need be.

If you are parked at a place that lets you permanently camp I would hope/think it must have black water drains at the site that the slinky hose would be permanently attached to or your going to have to use a portable tote to drain it off to every few days......

This whole conversation is ALMOST TMI.

But, I have friends that NEVER put solids in their black water tanks. That includes fecal matter OR paper. The paper goes into a paper bag that gets burned in the campfire, or a plastic bag and it goes out with the regular trailer garbage to the dump area... along with dirty diapers, etc.

You decide...
