I found a set of tongs for less than $10 at my True Value hardware store. They pack nicely in the trailer junk cubby.

Now, I know fire-poking sticks are a sacred thing for some people. They carry their sticks from campsite to campsite, year to year. Perhaps some of you rugged individuals pooh pooh such a luxury. But I am running a trailer called Castle Pretentious after all. So I'm just laying this out there for those who might be interested. It's a cheap extra.

Fireplace Tong Scissors

I've been known to smoke a cheap cigar from time to time and as I wander my campsite polluting the fresh air and considering the world's problems, I often use these as a trash pick up device (usually cigarette butts) to "police" the area.

Sometimes it's even used to rearrange the logs on the fire!

While camping if I ever see a man with a plastic nose, black glasses and funny eyebrows walking around with a cigar in his mouth trying to pick up cigarette butts with fireplace tongs I'll know I've located you.....

Ha! I always camp in disguise so I don't look like my real picture in the members section.

Of course the cigar and tongs could be a giveaway....

I got my solid steel poker with cast Iron pokey end and handle and my log grabers at a yard sale for a buck a piece. I see a set every weekend it seems and have upgraded a couple times already.

I just use a forked snake-stick. But it does tend to get soot on the snakes, so maybe I need some tongs after all.

I like those , going to have to go buy one. They look perfect to grabbing those bananas out of the firepit. Thanks.... Carrie
