There's a thread right now over on the Bolerama forum. It appears that someone removed the door bolts and walked off with the door, the table, and the tail lights.
How secure is yours?????

Unless you have your trailer in a fenced yard, complete with Rottweiler, you are not going to be secure from a determined thief with tools. I sleep well, noting that there are not that many Surfside owners who are both industrious and criminal.

Given what was taken I would think the police have a good lead.
It's another Boler owner!

Agree... my philosophy is that "Locks are designed to keep honest people honest." - remove the temptation. If someone is REALLY a bad person, locks don't help.

The lock on our Scamp is a total joke. It can be opened with just about anything you stick in it and wiggle. I installed a chrome hasp from Tractor Supply and it is keyed and just about as bad as the Scamp lock however a wire is connected to the hasp and to the lock side and when the hasp is opened and the connection is broken, an alarm goes off. The alarm will only scare off an idiot though because anyone that really wants something inside the camper will locate the alarm and rip it out.

As far as the hinges being removed and the door taken, there really isn’t much that you could do to stop someone that determined. If it were me and I were that desperate fort camper parts, I would have just taken the whole camper.

I'm not big on worrying about someone walking with my trailer I just keep my insurance paid but, I had to laugh at a guy who I work with in disaster relief. He was a contractor before he retired and had his trailers stolen on numorous occasions. We have a box trailer with all kinds of tools in it for disasters and we were volunteering to build a new office for a minister whose office burned down and he took a post hole digger and dug a hole about 3' deep, then towed the trailer till the "A" frame was over the hole then tamped a 4X4 post 6' high into the hole. Barring a thief with a chain saw there was no way someone would have walked off with the whole trailer. although they may break into it.
I worked for a lock company for 20 years and there is no way you can keep a determined thief from getting what you have. These little trailers sure beat a tent for security though
