If they did that thing right, they would have built in some hollow areas and packed them full of foam for floatation. Otherwise, one good wave and it's "Blub, blub, blub".

It would turn turtle in a second, flotation or not. It needs either a weighted keel or outriggers. Inflatable pontoons might do the job.

There actually was a houseboat RV made sometime back in the 50s or 60s but it had more of a houseboat design, wide pontoons, not as sleek as an RV but more of a houseboat with wheels.

That will be news to the people who have preserved some examples of a very similar idea from Britain in the 1960s:

That isn't really similar, it has a solid boat with a cabin. At least from appearances the first one is a basic egg shape.
