ya, that was actually what prompted my (tongue in cheek) response. When it happened, it kind of was a joke here at work... "Grease fire in the Slim Jim factory" and one gal had no idea what a slim jim was. So we had to ed-u-ma-cate her on classic southern cuisine. Including Dr. Pepper and /or Coke with Peanuts. So, they were on my mind.

Gorp, gosh that's a word I haven't heard used in a while. Now it just goes by the snooty name of "Trail Mix."

I heard it was for [b]Good [b]Old [b]Raisins and [b]Peanuts, but I'm sure there's a much more methodical reason.

I grew up in the 40's and 50's on peanut butter, yeah I know prehomogenized days and our favorite traveling food is Jif peanut butter and Nabisco Honey Maid Graham Crackers. Momma doesn't drive while pulling the Casita so she spreads and serves while I drool and drive

I musta beat you by at least a split second.

This peanut/raisin mix was a great energy food when I got into backpacking 35 years ago, and got refined further into the various trail mixes we eat now.

"Little Gems" (or similar) powder sugared mini donuts (come in a 6-pack - 3 each!). Gotta have them with my morning coffee when driving; and Clif Bars.
