Trillium... The new ones

In my endless search for a small fiberglass trailer that I can handle, I came across the new Trillium being made. I am very interested in the 4500 model but they aren't being produced as of yet. Thinking of going with the smaller model until the 4500 model is being made. I am wondering, Are there any know issues with the new ones, etc. Has anyone had experience with the new production? I know there are vintage Trillium owners here (which I would love your opinions as well.) But was wondering if there are any new Trillium owners out there? Thanks Robin

OLD Trillium owner here Robin.
The COST of glass trailers is directly tied into the ever rising cost of O I L.
Don't waste time buying now, selling later to re-invest in a larger model.
The cost of ANY glass egg in the future is gunna SKY ROCKET...

Celebrating first year of ownership on an older Trillium here. The way I see it, old or new, not much can go wrong with a fiberglass trailer that can't be fixed, especially with Trilliums that have a molded fiberglass interior (i.e. no wood). Not that much structural difference between old and new - main difference is you avoid the hassle (or pleasure) of having to renovate or fix things for a while. Others may chime in otherwise, but the only bad things I have heard so far about the newer ones were dealer-related warranty issues which would be resolved if you buy factory direct and do your own inspection.

I have seen some good prices on used 2000-2005 Trillium Outback models - saw a 2005 in Seattle for $8500 2 months ago and it was mint.

Since these trailers last forever all you have to make sure is that the FG is good, frame is sound and that the 12v works well.

I would not buy new at this point, the deprecation of the new ones seems to be around %50 within a few years and then bottoms out. There is a 2002 in my woods for 10,500 that hasn't moved in 2 months - in comparison I put my 72' trailer on the local sites yesterday and have had 5 people express interest this morning already... must be all that 'character' =)

I like the idea of more interior height! That's one issue I have with other trailers. And they seem to have large windows, I am sure that makes it feel bigger than it is inside.....


I know Booker, the new versus used issue. But, due to the my Dh's health issue. Used would be harder on me to care for and revamp, etc (At least I think!) at this point. That's why I was thinking new. I guess I need to just find the right used one. Not an easy thing to do. But I keep looking Robin

There is maintenance for sure on these old ones, like having an old house.

Kind of off topic but about light and height in the Trilliums. I am 6'2 and find the height in the Trill's just fine with me. However, our 1976 has the fiberglass shelf over the windows and I find it significantly cuts down on the amount of light the trailer seems to have compared to the 1972. It's not very wide, maybe 10 inches, but it keeps the light from reflecting off the roof in the trailer.

And since I'm off on a tangent something else I discovered last night was the 1972 has a slightly wider closet then the 1976 - so the standard plastic bin shelfs sold everywhere that fit the 1972 don't fit the 1976.
