Trip Memory Rocks

For those of you who have seen the movie "The Long, Long Trailer", remember how Lucy collected a rock at each camping?

If you collect something at your campings, do you mind sharing what you are collecting?

I don't remember ever watching "The Long, Long trailer" but I too collect rocks. But only odd, different, unusual rocks, little rocks. More like pebbles. Had a pretty big collection years ago and finally thought why am I doing this if I am not gonna use them. I ended up using them in a custom entry floor I did in our home. It was special to have those to add.

I collect nature things, rocks, interesting small pieces of wood, feathers and the like.

I often bring home rocks too. Last summer, on Manitoulin Island, we spent a lot of time collecting rocks and building little inukshuks. It was fun, but I think people thought we were nuts.

I usually camp or vacation at the shore so I collect shells and seaglass. They are light and can fit into a pocket. Sometimes if there are some nice smooth colorful rocks I will pick them up too. I have jars of stuff but just can't part with them!

I collect photographs.
But the wife collects shells, rocks, pine cones, and any other little things that catch her attention, (kind of like a bowerbird). We have baskets and bottles full of her collections all around the house.

Of course memories are tops, second for us are stones, particularly agates.

When we first started RVing one of our relatives who thought we were crazy dave us 'The Long Long Trailer', the ultimate stone(rock) collector.

My "Redhead" collects rocks, which I place around a tree as a rock garden( can't mow because of roots) after we write where it they come from on bottom.

Well I have to admit ,this is me! Thank goodness DH never complains ,so long as I use them for something in the yard, when we get home. Every thing seems to find a home just outside the door so we see it and remember all the fun times as we go in & out the door.

I take photographs and post the best of them on Flickr so others can enjoy them too. I've noticed that 8 of the top 10 viewed photos I've posted are pictures of trailering, and 9 of 10 are pictures taken while trailering.

We have been out once this year already to Whidbey Island and Port Townsend and posted some pictures here:

Whidbey Island and Port Townsend - a set on Flickr

Would a picture of a rock qualify as a "memory rock"?

We were at a spring training game yesterday and the lady next to us had been a fulltimer for 8 years. She stated she missed the friendly RVers she found in every park.

By the way Spring Training baseball is great.

On every trip we take we try find sew on patches for our jackets that remind us of parks that we have visited and the sites we have seen. I sew them on 2 jackets that we use when camping in the spring and fall. I have attached a picture of one of the jackets front and back.

That's even better than those state magnets.

The patch idea is cool. Are there lots of patches available? I know National or State Parks seem to have patches as I have bought them for my nephew. Where do you find patches if you are staying at a commercial campground?
