Trip report - 10,000 miles

We returned home two weeks ago after our 10,000 mile trip from Virginia to the west coast and back. We were gone for six months.

We were able to attend two gatherings including the Oregon NOG and the Quartzsite Dome Rock event where we met quite a few F.R.V people.

We kept detailed mileage data on the laptop and the results appear below,

TV = 2002 mazda three liter v-6 five speed tranny.
TV was fully packed with first up, spare propane tank, extra stove, BBQ, tools, two gas scooters and miscelany.

RV = 1983 Uhaul packed with the essentials and full 10 gal water tank.

Mileage for the entire trip averaged 17.36 gal

Best mileage = 19.5 on I5

Worst mileage = 15.5 through wyoming with huge headwind.

Average price of gasoline was $3.06 ( would be more now )

Total miles = 10,985.85

Number of tire problems = 0

Number of new windshields = 1

Repairs = One clutch & slave cylinder. ( $800 ) YIKES!

Number of good times and happy memories = At least a zillion!

I will post a list of my favorate sites later.

Glad you made it home safely Bud and Judy! Sorry the NOG was so damp (that's putting it mildly). It was nice to meet you both and see your shiny U-Haul. Hope you found and were able to fix the minor leak too. Leave it to Oregon to find out ya gotta leak.

Safe travels and I hope to see you again!

Check your fuel tickets. If you can isolate the ones where the gas contained no ethanol you will find out you got better average fuel mileage on that fuel.

Sounds like a good trip! We're looking forward to retiring so we can spend more time on the road for longer slow paced trips rather than trying to cram everything into too little time.
