Dennis and I are planning a trip to southern Baja in January. We're planning to drive from Oregon to Los Barillos. We will be traveling with another friend and taking our dog. Anyone have any suggestions or things we should consider in preparation for the trip? Thanks.

You will need a health certificate for the dog from a vet for re-entry to the US.

Lots of good information here. Thanks, Frederick, for the links. Sam, we have talked with our vet so will be prepared with the health certificate. The Fresno article is chilling! It makes sense to be sure not to be traveling at night and to move through the border area promptly.

Thanks, everyone!

Wow, that sounds like an exciting and scarey trip. Be safe. We want to hear all about it at the NOG gathering. We had planned to go this year but things happen so are looking to go next year. Come back with all kinds of tips and adventures to share with us. And let us know how Luna's adventure goes as we would want to take Dallas with us when we get to go.

Thanks again to all of you for the tips and information. I read through all of the old posts you kindly searched, Frederick, and yes, Linda and Dale, we will be sure to share when we are back at the NOG. We'll even send a note or photo when we are there if we have the opportunity. We have talked with the vet and have our appointment scheduled to get the health certificate and other vaccination proofs and we are getting Mexican auto insurance through Vagabundos Del Mar. We have our passports and general travel plans so it won't be long....

We hope that you all stay warm and have a happy holiday season wherever you might be!

Charlene and Dennis

I am familiar with travel in Mexico so if you would like more information please contact me and i would be happy to help you with any areas of concern.. Happy travels and i may just see you on the road!!! Dee
