Hi... DW and I just got a new Ford F-150 quad cab. There are storage units you can get that go under the rear seat, but they are close to (OR OVER!!) $200. Yikes.

I tumbled onto this fella on the F-150 forum site - and HIS DIY solution LOOKS better and IS BETTER than the $200 Plastic boxes. I did one and i figger $25-30 depending on what you can score for carpet. That beats the bejesus out of $200!!!!

Dunno about OTF (Other then Fords), but if your rear seat folds up, to explore!

Here is the link to his Project / pix / discussion.

Have fun and POST PIX / Suggestions.

Wish I had a quad-cab, with or w/o underseat! Best part is underseat is not in the eye of the passerby!

Bingo! We had an f-150 w/ std tranny and the v-6... a fella in town pickup a Scamp D-19 a year ago and he is tugging with a Checy 5 Spd V-6. He sez it's "OK" - but on a long pul up outta Death Valley - he siad it was a load. So, we decided to upgrade... got the small v-8, auto trans and the quad. Figured it gives the grand kids a place if they come along, and without them, it is a place to keep the cooler while we are driving. win-win.

www.harborfreight.com sells a Key Box that has a combination lock and it fits under a Chevy Silverado Quad Cab back seat. Bolt it down and put your important stuff in it.

To what does it bolt?

Do you have to drill any holes in the floor??

I [b]**thought** very brieflY about doing a small strong box - couple of round headed carriage bolts w/ nuts INSIDE strong box. Finally decided it probably wasn't worth the effort.

I mounted a strong box (Harborfreight) in the camper and will mount the key box under the truck seat, havn't done the truck seat yet. The small safes fron Harbor are $45 and less than that for the smaller one(s) and have a electronic keypad with a key backup should the battery go dead or you forget the combo. The metal is soft enough to allow you to drill should the pre drilled holes not be suficient. Well worth the effort because the key lock on the doors just do not provide any level of protection.
