Down here in the lower provinces, I seldom heard them being used publicly except in a derogatory manner, as in "Who's the old Geezer over there" and "That guys older than dirt, what's he doing here". Private discussions, between individuals, is somewhat different.

When those terms are used in general discussion, and on a public forum, it provide license for others as well. It also serves to further brand our membership group in a ageist manner.

Whatever. I am going with the light-hearted, have fun with it approach. It is just my nature to be happy and have fun. Not a geezer yet, and almost well over 10 years younger than dirt.

Oh poo, reminds me of friends who wouldn't join AARP when they turned 50 y/o because they didn't want anyone to know they were that old. Get over it and be grateful. Plenty of folks will NEVER age and would trade places with a Geezer in a short minute.

Now... about that discount

Until this year, I was in the under 50 group. Turning 50 seemed less traumatic then how I remember turning 40 was.

None of us is getting any younger.

Proud to be GEEZER
In the morning when I awake I hang pieces of glass in front of my eyes the better to see you. I stick tiny radio receivers in my ears the better to hear what you say. Then stuff a couple of appliances in my mouth the better to chew my food and before I go outside I cover my head to shade the top where I used to have hair to do the same job. With my morning coffee I take one For cholesterol, one for heart two for the arthritis and something else because the doc says I must. For better balance I now carry a stout rod.
......and I'm doing better than a lot of others in their late seventies and more....
I read about my old school buddies in the obits and cherish my grand kids more.

Life is fantastic and I look forward to tomorrow. Hope you do too.
Jim

I'm 49.5 although I automatically upgrade my age after 6 months so i say I'm 50.
