Fascinating detail. Beyond the assorted past presidents, wives and members of congress...John Madden!?

Actually, the final picture is 1,474 megapixels, made from stitching 220 images together. If you look closely you can see the stitching artefacts in a few spots. Pretty cool nonetheless.

If you zero in on the blue carpeted area where the quartet "played" just before the swearing-in, you will see what Yo Yo Ma was doing at that moment!

I am impressed with the guy covered with a blue blanket, leaning against the wall that is doing exactly what I would have been doing.

He is sound asleep.

I saw no artifacts. Tell me where to zoom in.

I do this all the time and want to make sure I don't put one of my stitches up where you can tell. Bad for my show! LOL

Well, for instance, there's an obvious one with the big AP camera on the left that is cut in half. Then there's a split across the second and third row of people sitting behind the president (one with four eyes, another with two foreheads).

Wow! pretty poor stitching. Ugly!
I'm pretty sure that this amalgamation is via more than one camera of various lens. If a single camera took every image and the overlap was less that 50% then that sort of misalignment would not have happened with most automatic stitching software let alone considering manual photoshop adjustments... but then my computer would have crashed trying to render something so large, so...

I don't think this is a single merged image though. I think it is rendered in real time with flash. There is a difference in stitch-merging 270 some odd files and just selecting which to display for any given screen format coordinates. Like what google earth does.

Thanks for the heads up
