Warm Enough To Ice Fish Without a Coat

As we are in our February Thaw where the snow is getting ugly, I looked out on the ice today and noticed no one was wearing a coat while fishing. I went into town and very few were wearing a coat and one guy was dressed in shorts. I was dressed like an eskimo and overheating as I walked through Wal-Mart which isn't hard to do since everything you need is at the back of the store and then all the way to the other end with hope you will shop inbetween. Well, I am not a contributor to that theory and probably why my husband is always lagging several isle behind me. I make sure I have my cell phone so I can locate his position should we be separated.

I am sure we have plenty of winter to refresh the snow and freeze the standing water. Onto the ice storms. Wheee!

I (not fondly) remember the icy roads of February in Minnesota freeze/thaw conditions.
I do (fondly) remember leaving behind my heavy coat when the temps rose above 30 and wearing only a sweater. It was great to have the extra freedom of movement.

PS I also remember late season ice skating being a little on the risky side....

Soon I will wear a jacket to work in the morning and be without it when I get home. Then find another jacket the next morning and leave THAT one at work ... then another and another and another. When all my jackets and coats are at work, it's almost time to go camping!

We went home last weekend. As we were crossing the bridge into Minnesota at LaCrosse there were fishing huts below the dam in the channel. No fish is worth that but maybe the guys wife thinks so.
