For an invention to be called good it needs to solve a problem. I struggle to understand what problem this device solves. Dispensing used and possibly contaminated with heavy metals water (electrolyte) could be problematic. 10 years life most likely includes times when battery is dry between 4 water charges. It is definitely innovative to separate electrolyte from electrodes just like lead battery for either shelf life or shipment, but, I pass.

Since the shelf life on most lithium batteries is 10 years, I suspect the combination of a standard flashlight & lithium batteries would be a better & less expensive option as an emergency light source. Since it only "recharges" 4 times, it sure wouldn't be useful as a daily use light...

Ah yes, but where else could you recycle flat colas and urine?

Ok Donna, now you have me thinking. Maybe if they expand this new technology to a larger-size battery... say, group 27? And refine it a bit, so 100 or so liquid recharges are possible. Then we won't have to fill the black tank so much and can get practical energy out of a byproduct we all produce. Instead of a run-down battery in the middle of the night from too much furnace use, we'll refill the battery via a tube and it'll keep on going. As we go, so it goes.

Oh BTW... if you drink the flat cola, then pee it into the battery, is that 'double recycling'?

Twenty years ago or so, there was someone trying to build a vehicle that ran on methane gas. They actually removed the drivers seat and installed a commode... true story... not an urban myth! Oh wait... maybe I saw that on a redneck website
