We're goin' to Vegas, baby. Vegas!!!
Well, maybe not Vegas, but certainly Palm Springs, CA.
In a few hours we embark on our first long road trip (from Victoria, BC to Southern California). Since getting the trailer in October we've only camped about 14 or 15 nights locally, so this will be a new and exciting experience for us.
Thanks to all of you who contribute to the forum for asking great questions and providing tips that helped us prepare, and gave us confidence, to hit the road. Thanks especially to Theresa P who provided invaluable advice about outfitting our little home (and some good travel tips, too) and to Chantal L who gave us a tour of her wonderful little Boler when we were making our purchase decision.
TTUS
Phil

Phil and Dan, safe travels! Be sure to visit my money while you're there, I left a bunch many places in that city over the years.

Oh, that sounds awesome! We're coming from SoCal all the way up to Seattle in April with our little trailer. I'd be interested to hear your experiences!
Have a great trip and make sure to take lots of pictures!

If you go as far as Vegas, check out the Valley of Fire State Park, about 60 miles north of the city. I was there for a week in May.

Its only about an hour or so drive from Vegas - its kind of fun to just walk the strip - even if you do not gamble. I went for a couple of day in late November - stay at Sams Club its about 5 or so miles off the strip - they have a free shuttle running to take you back and forth to the strip. The Toby Keith bar and grill btw has the best & biggest helping of chicken wings at a great price! :-)))

Phil & Dan, if you dont already know about it a great spot to camp near Palm Springs is Lake Cahulla Country Park just outside of La Quinta - only an hour or less out of Palm Springs - lots of golfing in that area as well - and the best Mexican spot to eat not far from there is the Pueblo Viejo Grill at 81-931 Highway 111 in Indio. Decor not so great but the food and prices are awesome - Make sure to try the deep fried ice cream - best birthday cake I have every had!!!

Windstorm
Did you get caught in the windstorm? Temperatures in the 80's and wind in the 50's down the Colorado River Valley, Laughlin, etc...

We're actually in Palm Springs, but yes, we got the windstorm here. Gusts of 50mph. It was quite something. Our little trailer was full of sand and dust then next day--gave me a little "project" to get it all cleaned up
The "dessert storm" refers to Shermann's, a local Palm Springs institution. They serve amazing desserts--just huge!
Thanks for the dining tip Carol. Will definitely go there.
And thanks, Theresa, everything has gone very smoothly on the trip thanks to your sage advice!
Here's a photo of our set-up here at the Happy Traveler RV Park. It's really nice here. Some very big rigs, but some small ones too, like VW vans and such.

NICE. Sure wish I was there... pouring buckets in Portland, Oregon and not a palm tree to be found...

hi guys! your campsite looks very nice and private. looks like you are truly roughin' it!
the weather network shows you can look forward to some beautiful days....
i am so glad your trip was uneventful. our little "osokozy" is sitting safe and sound in the carport but i am getting itchy and edgy waiting for those warm spring days to melt off the rest of the snow and bring some heat to NB. i am totally in envy of you both! have a terrific time and don't forget the photos!
