Robert Johan's is right in the throws of completely redoing a Trail Mite. Hershel, you need to follow that thread!

well as far as I can tell the white pipe is an escape hatch for when you achieve a speed of in excess of warp 6 the smaller trail mites cant stand the noise and whine of the rockets . so they bail in search of Dilithium crystals. so they can achieve warp 7 next time .. or I have no idea.

Trailmite, no question. The "eyebrow" and the belly band that forms into the tail-light mounts are unique to this brand. They were built in Costa Mesa, CA. 1971-72.

We've had ours since 2006.
Keep an eye on the tongue, they were way underbuilt. Our about go torn off by a Kansas backroad dip. We've since replaced it with much stouter stock. The suspension is odd too -- a swingarm axle with a pair of what are best described as half leaf-springs. I replaced the whole shebang with a new axle (with brakes) and full size leaf-springs and raised the travel by a few inches to handle the dirt roads we tend to frequent.

Oh man, the wiring. What a tangle of some of the worst factory wiring I ever saw. A friend who used to work for an RV repair shop tried to salvage what was there, but we eventually replaced everything. We added a couple of accessory socket (cigarette lighter type) wired in a car stereo and added a fuse box (it didn't have one!) while we were at it.
