We have only camped for one night so far as winter has stood in the way. Not to mention that we have yet to equip the uhaul like we want it. We are anticipating a trip of several months.

However, being rather frugal, we have gone through each page of the trailer life guide and marked all of the camping places that go for less than $12. We marked the ones with power with green ink and the non-power places with red. We would be unhappy in the large, expensive, plastic, campgrounds anyway.

Considering the lack of low priced camping sites in new england, we have decided to travel elsewhere. Probably to the PNW.

Planned distance to travel divided by miles per gallon times cost per gallon. Cost of food usually stays with in my 100 to 150 dollars per month budget. Seldom pay for entertainment. Make use of most available free or low cost camps sites. Very reluctant to pay over $15.00 per nite.

In 2009 we took 8 trips and put 9305 miles on the Casita. We payed for one might at a campground. And that was when we visited Gina D. in Arizona. (She did give us a discount, though. )

On the road we stay at truck stops, casino parking lots, rest areas, etc. Our destinations are BLM, USFS, National Grasslands, or relative's driveway.

We freeze portions of our home meals most nights and take those. Most meals are fresh or frozen from what we brought. If we stay at a casino, since we don't gamble, we do go in and have a restaurant meal.

So, mostly, we just pay for fuel.

It's a great life!

Pat

As you saw in my above post we did the Northwest and its just as expensive as New England, We have found that the real cheapy campgrounds are not even worth the price they're asking and they are far and few between. We seniors in Florida get 1/2 price and it still averages about $12.00 bucks a night with water and elec. We camp in Virginia's state parks at least once a year and they are not cheap anymore, last year we stayed at Douthat state park and it was about $28.00 with no hookups. Of course there is always Wally World or Flying J, if you want to call that camping. We have stayed in a few Federal campgrounds that are unmanned, but again no hookups pit toilets & no showers. We do like clean restrooms
